Lots of people have been requesting Sounds of the Ultimate Workstation for PC. I've been building it for the last month or so and it is almost done. Stay tuned for the download and soon after, the post. I think it's a great mix of components for the price.
Anyway, I wanted to point people towards where they can find lots of free impulse responses. In case you don't know, these impulse responses are like high-quality versions of the sound files you can get from any demo software label or the mixdown of a CD or the sound effects on a video game. They are used to help us determine what sounds to put in the right places and they are great aids to managing our collections fairly. I compiled a little list to point people at. So, here is a little list of sites that I have found some good free impulse responses. Hopefully this will help us all out in our quest for sounds!
holicrockroom.com has a Realistic Free Impulse Responses page. This is a great site for "real" sounding impulse responses and you can actually try a sound out. There are a bunch in the back room that are very nice. I also have a bookmark to an impulse response page I found on a web site that sells audio gear, but I don't know how to access it here.
Just curious if someone found some good free impulse responses? Not that I'd be absolutely opposed to paying for some, but I'd rather start to get familiar with them and what they bring to the table, instead of just spending money where I'm not sure it'll be so fruitful.
Thanks for turning us onto these but this topic is intended for free impulse responses and I don't see any on their site. If there aren't any it would probably be better to not turn this topic into a general discussion of Impulse Responses although a bit of that has occurred (don't want to force folks to wade through too many posts without free links). There are topics already out there better suited for that. Thanks for dredging this topic back up though. It has been a while since I have seen anything added. d2c66b5586
