But there is one thing that everyone can agree on, when it comes to Ptolus. The city is a melting pot. Ptolians come from all over the Empire to live in the city, and there is little difference between the inhabitants of the city. Aptly described as “a multi-racial city,” the people of Ptolus are a variety of races, and ethnicity. There are heterogeneous societies , but they often work together.
But what of the physical structure of the city? The buildings themselves are diverse, with architecture suited to the needs of many inhabitants. Ptolus is a city of new and old, rich and poor, dangerous and safe.
The fact that Ptolus is a former capital of the Empire keeps its dark lore alive, and just waiting for a time when you wander into a tavern and hear a tale from a mischievous Dwarf or a pair of mischievous rogues.
The royal palace of the city is in the ruins of an ancient temple. The palace is said to have been built from the stones of the original temple, a story that is given credence by the many carvings of the god Awisorg, found within the walls of the palace.
The denizens of Ptolus tend to be creative. When they are not devising the next pranks, or stealing the next shiny, they are inventing complex devices to protect their city, or developing long-term plans to build the next great temple or tower.
The inhabitants of Ptolus are not all alike. Their cultures and customs vary wildly. Some are nomadic and primitive, others are in exile from the larger cities of the Empire. Others are wealthy nobles who spend the twilight years of their lives seeking out adventure.
